Editor © Muhammad Haque. One of two Tower Hamlets constituency MPs, Jim Fitzpatrick, has been reportedly making ‘amends’ in Bethnal Green and Bow Constituency area. One of those is the publication in the area of the ‘East London Advertiser’, which has distributed placards announcing that ‘MP FITZ’ [has] said ‘Sorry’.
This is about Jim Fitzpatrick’s expenses. In previous editions, the same newspaper ran several stories positively claiming that ‘our’ [meaning Tower Hamlets] ‘MPs’ had been ‘innocent of expenses fiddles’. Had the newspaper actually checked its facts at the time, it COULD have found out the truth earlier. Still, it is better late than never. The other is of course the appearance that Fitzpatrick has made in the Mile End Road, He did appear in person to ‘confirm’ that he was behind the ‘Labour Party’s official candidate for mayor’.
Leaving aside, just for this updater, the BHANGEELAAR! position that we do not accept that a lawfully supervised and lawfully called referendum was lawfully held on the matter of a directly elected mayor in Tower Hamlets, Jim Fitzpatrick and ‘Labour Party candidates for mayor’ do not work very well. Not historically in London at any rate.
