BHANGEELAAR! No to an elected mayor cites the “East London Advertiser” editorial comment again: "scrap this tainted ballot".
As we cite the Editorial comment, we point out for the records the fact that the “East London Advertiser” should have said the same things MONTHS earlier. Had it done so, the serious additional problem that an elected mayor will bring to the people of and in Tower Hamlets would have been avoided.
As things are, the “East London Advertiser” did not publish that sort of comment until September 2010, only weeks before the scheduled polling day for the elected mayor thing.
However the fact that the “East London Advertiser” has even belatedly admitted that the elected mayor thing will bring problems is an important point of reference.
This belated admission shows that what the BHANGEELAAR! Campaign has said for the past almost ten months is shared by the ‘local’ newspaper.
It also vindicates the so far un-recognised people, almost 40,000 who did vote on 6 May 2010 against having an elected mayor.
We shall in the course of the next day and over the weekend publish the updated legal and constitutional grounds for scrapping the ballot as scheduled for 21 October 2010
Those grounds are based on our continuing inquiries and the simultaneous appearance daily [and sometimes more than once daily] of new evidence from independent sources not linked with your campaign as such showing that the people of Tower Hamlets will be the losers unless the post and the abusive powers of an elected mayor are scrapped before it is too late.
