Call to STOP the 'mayor election' in Tower Hamlets due to too many allegations against too many candidates and their supporters!
BHANGEELAAR! has posted the following statement as a comment on the London Guardian’s web site as part of the coverage by the GUARDIAN LONDON BLOG edited by Dave Hill of events in the inner city East London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
16 October 2010 12:40PM
Dave, your contributions so far have been remarkable mainly for the lack of bile and blatantly racist ‘containers’.
We have coined that word to refer to the consignment of poison that has accompanied a certain ‘dedicated dispatch’ at the expense of democratic discourse in the name of Tower Hamlets recently.
But you have not really addressed the core question: why do they want to impose an executive mayor on the people of Tower Hamlets?
It is an imposition.
It will not be an election in the universal sense of the term whether it is dated 21 October 2010 or any other date.
Our constitutional law and related researches have been conducted without calling on a single penny of the public or of any ‘backer’ whether business or otherwise.
The entirety of the costs of our campaign is borne by our own voluntary members and supporters who are campaigning for the sake of democracy and fairness for the people of Tower Hamlets.
We notice that serious allegations, including criminal ones have been made by various individuals against each other and about each other. Some of those individuals are currently involved as candidates for election to the stated post of Tower Hamlets executive mayor... But the same individuals have failed to publicly and reasonably convincingly and believably show item-by-item that those allegations are false or untrue.
It is a known fact that none of the parties or persons named, involved and implied in the alleged wrongs, the wrongdoings and offences has instituted any actual process or proceedings with any known court of law or tribunal within the UK.
We therefore confirm the position of this campaign – BHANGEELAAR! The Campaign against an elected mayor in Tower Hamlets – as of today Saturday 16 October 2010 that for the sake of creating in Tower Hamlets an environment that is conducive to free and unfettered democratic representation and accountability, it is vital that all the formally listed 'participants' [as 'candidates' 'agents' and others] in the stated mayor election as listed for 21 October 2010 [a] withdraw the aforesaid participation and [b] support the movement for the free and unfettered holding of an inquiry into all the allegations so far made and published and acknowledged.
For this statement, we rely on all the published and uncontested statements of the allegations by all the persons concerned.
We shall furnish all the detailed evidence to all the law and constitutional agencies and authorities and to all bona fide, legitimate parties, Parties, persons and their representatives in due course and in the lawful, constitutional and transparent manner.
