The Guardian London Blog coverage:
BHANGEELAAR! Commenting on the lack of legal action over allegations made by and or about those seeking public office in the name of Tower Hamlets
As just published on the Guardian online:
Having waited for some time to see if any original comment about any court challenge over the many published allegations of fraud and corruption would be posted from those involved, including, in particular, from the Lutfur Rahman ‘campaign’, we now find that no one has come forward on your blog with any information about any legal action.
We must observe that clear information about that aspect would have been greatly relevant especially to the ordinary people of Tower Hamlets.
We notice that you have decided to not comment or add any material update on any of the factual contents in the communication that you published attributing those to Lutfur Rahman.
We remain very concerned for the fact and the standard of democratic accountability in Tower Hamlets.
And by extension it is arguable that what irregularities and unconstitutionalities are or may be seen to be allowed to occur in the name of a direct election to an executive mayor in Tower |Hamlets will certainly create adverse consequences both in Tower Hamlets as well as in the rest of the country.
All allegations made about all claimants to all public offices warrant immediate transparent investigation. Otherwise the public will justly feel let down and conclude that democratic representation has been betrayed. The demands of universal natural justice must be met and discharged and be seen to be rigorously discharged without delay.
