AADHIKARonline diagnosing Andrew Gilligan and the failure of Channel 4 to focus on the real problems in Tower Hamlets. Andrew Gilligan probably doesn’t know this – or if he does he may be in denial and far deeply into that state for him to get a grip on the truth. What he has been doing for the past seven months is to rehash some of the fabrications about Tower Hamlets while failing to report on the serious problems in the same Borough. When it is remembered that Gilligan became ‘known’ by the – in our view - ‘strange’ [NOT] ‘accident’ of featuring as a reporter about Blair’s war on Iraq broadcast on the BBC Radio 4 Today programme in an early bulletin during the first half of this decade, it is difficult to understand how he could make such a big error over Tower Hamlets.
Why are we saying this?
The answer is not to be found in an opinion but in the fact that became published by the ‘PRIVATE EYE’ magazine VERY SOON after Gilligan ‘hit the headlines’, the so-called satirical magazine [it is NOT satire so much as an outlet for insider information from original Establishment elements and assorted UK state and related agencies]. And that fact was later confirmed by Gilligan himself during the so-called Hutton inquiry hearings. Gilligan’s loss of a contract with the BBC was one consequence of his fabrication. Had it not been for that fabrication, Gilligan’s role would have been noted in a very different way indeed. So we are saying that he should have learnt from that experience. However, he appears to be unwilling or unable to leave that habit and has now confounded his particular propensity by over-publicising Lutfur Rahman and by over focussing on the diversionary and refusing to tell the truth about the problems that ordinary people in Tower Hamlets have been caused and are suffering due to the failures of the Tower Hamlets Council …
