Perhaps you need to add basic statistics on the known numbers of people out of job in Tower Hamlets when you carry any piece like the present one. During the past five months, many Tower Hamlets local councillors have made similar claims about their INTENTONS on finding jobs for local people. The media slots that they have appeared in did not contain the basic information about the state of joblessness. As the campaign for a democratic Tower Hamlets, we are asking all ‘Charities’ that are engaged in promoting their prospects to make sure that they include the key facts on the number of people affected in the sector they are publicising their involvement in. Likewise, we are asking local schools to publish data about school leavers linked with further education and so on along with info on how many school leavers are ending up with no progress to either FE or to skilled and sustainable jobs. This is the first step in getting to grips with changing the reality of life for the better for so many in Tower Hamlets who are condemned twice over first to leavening schools with seriously inadequate skills to play on an equal footing in a completive market for jobs and then being forgotten except as part of a pointless and glib collective image projected to boost someone else’s claims that they are “really doing something” with a given amount of grant aid or similar.
