This comment is at present [1705 Hrs Thursday 11 November 2010] being blocked by the web site of the "East London Advertiser". We are publishing it here because it is very important in the context of the rights of the people of Tower Hamlets to know what Councillors are actually saying and what they are doing in the name of our community:
The Bhangeelaar! Campaign against an elected mayor in Tower Hamlets has a duty to point out to your readers that both of these ‘councillors’ had been seen as actively participating in the campaign. They appear to be using the apparent lack of accountability in the Labour Party to say what they have said according to your report. The point is that they cannot expect ordinary people, including quite a few of those who may have actually voted for them, to float about so freely on serious issues in this way. For the record, Shahed Ali made at least four appearances on ethnicity-licensed satellite TV channels, claiming to be backing the position of the Labour Party. In a letter published by the “East London Advertiser” Shahed Ali condemned Lutfur Rahman as having been a “Respect” party “collaborator”. In one appearance on a satellite TV channel, Shahed Ali in fact accused Lutfur Rahman of having been a liar. How can ordinary people in Tower Hamlets now believe him on his claim that he wants to work with the same Lutfur Rahman for the good of the electors?
