BHANGEELAAR! campaign telling the SPECTATOR magazine web site:
Your reference to "the Tower Hamlets debacle” warrants the contextual facts to be put on the record.
BHANGEELAAR! “The Campaign against an elected mayor in Tower Hamlets” had predicted on 4 January 2010 that the raging contradictions in the “Labour Party” over the issue of the change to the Tower Hamlets Council’s constitution was almost certain to produce a mayor BY DEFAULT.
One of the elements of that default was and in the view of the Campaign, persists to be the unconcealed greediness accompanied by any noticeable sense of decency among the overwhelming majority of those who made up the controlling clique of what amounted to the authorised [by the NEC] bureaucracy in Tower Hamlets. Its various opportunistic self-seekers took not just two opposite positions on the same given issue at the same time but AS MANY positions as they contrived to convince themselves would bring them the gain they cravenly craved.
Ed Miliband can only be a prisoner of a bureaucracy that has been bequeathed to him by a succession of morality-free ‘national’ leaders of the very seriously morally comprised Labour Party bureaucracy if the antics of Harriet Harman are any guide.
The immediate goal therefore must be to free Ed Miliband from the clutches of the clique and then expect him to address anything with a semblance of clarity and confidence. "
