Tower Hamlets is a ‘deprived’ borough. There are many reasons for it. One is the absence of competent democracy. Now there is a bid to make the borough even more deprived. By taking way the theoretical say that elected councillors have on what happens to the Borough.
The loss of democratic mandate to represent the people is a serious one. But that will happen if those seeking to give supreme powers to an executive mayor succeed. How do we stop that from happening? We can stop that on 6 May 2010 by using our vote to say ‘NO’. VOTE ‘NO’ on 6 May 2010 in Tower Hamlets.
To that you have to make sure today [and if you are unavoidably busy, by tomorrow Tuesday 20 April 2010] that you are registered as a voter. There is only one more FULL day left to all the procedural stuff to get on the electoral register in Tower Hamlets. Wednesday is absolutely the last day to register to vote.
