BHANGEELAAR! The campaign for a NO VOTE on 6 May 2010 is asking OFCOM to investigate complaints including the allegations that the key personnel making the decisions on what is broadcast as ‘news’ by the Channel is determined by the links between Channel S personnel and a number of interests promoting the YES side on the referendum about the future constitution of the Tower Hamlets Council.
This allegation has been widespread for months in the local community in Tower Hamlets.
Also, a number of speakers, including former councillors and current councillors on Tower Hamlets Council who attended the public meeting held by the “NO” campaign in the Greatorex Street [off Hanbury Street off Brick Lane] London E1 in January 2010, made clear assertions that Channel S was linked with individuals and interests based in Tower Hamlets where those individuals and interests were backing the ‘YES’ vote.
In their ‘news’ items broadcast in the period January to now [17 April 2010] on the subject of the referendum over the mayor in Tower Hamlets, Channel S have shown unmistakable bias towards the YES side.
They have run long and various footage of the YES activities while running no comparably long or detailed items for the “NO” campaign.
