A BHANGEELAAR! “The campaign against an elected mayor in Tower Hamlets” report
Channel S is a satellite TV station accessed mainly via Rupert Murdoch’s SKY network. It has been broadcasting biased items in favour of breaking up Tower Hamlets Council. They are publicising Ken Livingstone’s bid to undermine a democratic constitution in Tower Hamlets.
As they did over the meeting held by Ken Livingstone’s ‘fans’ on 6 February 2010 at the Brady Centre in the Hanbury Street off Brick Lane.
The Channel S ‘report’ of the meeting included headlines, summary and then lengthy chunks of the speeches delivered by Ken Livingstone, George Galloway and Keith Vaz,
There was no equivalent time or space given by Channel S to the demonstration in Hanbury Street held by the NO campaigners on the same day.
In fact the demonstration against a directly elected mayor in Tower Hamlets had several speakers including long standing campaigners in defence of the community. Several current councillors and a few would be councillors too were among the speakers at the NO campaign rally held in the Vallance Road Park nearby.
Channel S also broadcast an untruthful assertion, made by Ken Livingstone claiming that the NO campaign was being led by ‘Michael Keith and Helal Abbas’.
While it is possible that Michael Keith would support the NO campaign, it is TOTAL NEWS to Muhammad Haque who was the campaigner with the loud hailer outside the Brady Centre when Livingstone arrived.
Livingstone is a notorious utterer of lies and his lying, if anything would discredit anything he does.
The NO to a directly elected mayor is a broad based community campaign. It includes people of all backgrounds, cultures, nationalities and it is in accordance with the universal objects of democratic diversity that the campaigners are working to stop Tower Hamlets Council being hijacked by Ken Livingstone and his ‘fans’.
The above is based on the brief speech given by Muhammad Haque at the demonstration on 06 February 2010.
Channel S is the subject of a complaint by the NO campaign, which will be filed to OFCOM very soon.
