BHANGEELAAR! telling the Guardian blog to move forward and support the campaign for democracy across London
Quoting Dave Hill [of the London GUARDIAN Blog] [Monday 31 January 2011]
I have plans to catch up on recent, budget-related developments in Tower Hamlets, Hammersmith and Fulham and maybe other boroughs too. This, of course, may mean nothing...
[Unquote]
This must be one of the rarest occasions when you could be said to have completely accurately predicted the substance of what you would find by way of facts and also of their implications!
Whatever you may find out about “Hammersmith and Fulham and maybe other boroughs”, there is no doubt about your concluding words already applying a hundred percent to Tower Hamlets. What has been happening in Tower Hamlets Borough Council.. has not furthered any claim that the paper “opposition” “elected councillors” are behaving as “elected councillors” as far as the cuts agenda being implemented by the Tower Hamlets Council.. bureaucracy goes.
There has been no independently verifiable evidence in the public domain so far [1930 GMT Monday 31 January 2011] that the “Opposition” councillors have even wanted let alone tried to create a genuinely pro-democratic, accountable environment on the Council in which the cuts-carrying bureaucracy is left with no alternative but to submit to the implicit constitutional and democratic demand that “one of the most deprived” boroughs in all of England is not and must not - and does not deserve tl be - teated as if it were economically, socially a well off population comparable to the average income and social space enjoyed by the friends of “Dave” and “Boris” in their “ordinary neighbourhoods”.
No activity either has been seen by the so-called “party political” groupings[run for electoral aims and offices] on this issue. And this is true of the context of your report on Bob Crow in today’s blog about the unstaffed underground stations. If the “political groupings” “organised across London” had been really democratically active and if they were operated for furthering democratic say above all else then it would not be Bob Crow but those groupings or at least a number of those that would have featured in your coverage.
There has been no evidence in the years since you began your current blog on the Guardian, that a single one of the electorally operated and orchestrated “party” political groupings has been even bothered about a London wide democratic audit of the London underground or of the London Assembly.
No wonder that BoJo is looking as smug as he is doing, despite the very understandable and the very limited ‘ action’ [which are in the main strike and stoppages that have extremely limited repercussions] utterances you routinely attribute in context to the RMT!
The London public - and the communities in the many areas that are being systematically made even poorer by CONDEM with the collusions of their ‘local’ Council.. bureaucracies - need and deserve a far more democratically active and diverse representation than the Trade Union blocs can or EVER WILL provide. That the trade union blocs are the only ones making the noise on the record in the mainstream shows that the urgency and the need for organising democratic opposition in defence of London people cannot be stressed too strongly or emphatically.

BHANGEELAAR! the Campaign against an elected executive mayor in Tower Hamlets this morning again reiterated the fact that on the Council.. there is no active councillors working to hold the Council.. cuts-friendly bureaucracy accountable to the people of the Borough.
This diagnostic position is contained in the BHANGEELAAR! comment posted on the "East London Advertiser`" web site in the last hour.
Here is the full text of the BHANGEELAAR! diagnostic comment on the CUTS-making 'budget' by the Tower Hamlets Council:
Your [The “East London Advertiser” online] headline "Political parties respond to Tower Hamlets budget cuts of £72m" is made a mockery of by the contents you have quoted of the "Labour Party" councillor David Edgar and by [someone he reportedly knows quite well] Stephanie Eaton reported as representing the Lib Dems Party [as she is the sole councillor with that tag]!
Neither “councillor” Edgar nor “councillor” Eaton is critical of the Council!
And the ‘Respect’ group statement that you report is almost equally benign!
So who - if any- are the councillors in Tower Hamlets actually standing up for the thousands of people who are going to suffer due to this latest policy decision by the controlling clique currently in place in Tower Hamlets Council?
Is the Borough's population dependent on the very limited scope of “organised opposition” to the cuts that trade union members cam and will mount?
And these are only a preliminary sample of the questions that arise.
As things stand now and as shown by your reporting so far, there is an atmosphere of cosy cooperation for the “CONDEM agenda-friendly-cuts” on the Tower Hamlets Council’s corridors!

BHANGEELAAR!
The Campaign against an elected executive mayor in Tower Hamlets
You ["East London Advertiser" online] state
[Quote]:
“An estimated 7,000 families are living in sub-standard council property in Bethnal Green & Bow and in neighbouring Poplar & Limehouse constituency.”
[Unquote].
There must be some mistake in that statement, ‘shurely’!
FOR DECADES, successions of the cliques in control of Tower Hamlets Council have DENIED any problem whenever substantial challenges have been made to their behaviour over housing needs, housing stock and housing policy in Tower Hamlets.
The name “Tower Hamlets Council” is, on the objectively verifiable facts, at the top of the list of all UK ‘local authorities’ with undeniable records of institutional, policy and personnel failures causing, contributing to and perpetuating housing problems DESPITE significant funding made available to the same Borough Council by UK Central Government.
Why has this been so? Because in Tower Hamlets, there hasn’t been an active and manifest culture of accountability via the “elected councillors” who have been and are evidentially demonstrably complicit as a [numerical as different from identifiably segmented Party Politically defined] group with the status quo of non-democracy that rules their careers and their allowances and their very limited horizons! MP after MP DURING their Party’s tenures in office as “the UK Central Government” at the time has PRAISED the Tower Hamlets Council regardless of the Council’s systemic and systematic failures. Against these facts and in the context of this evidential backlog, NO AMOUNT of CONDEM CASH can truthfully and effectively and meaningfully break the “housing backlog”. Only a truly democratic, honest, ethically active local Borough Council in Tower Hamlets can begin to do that long overdue task. 1640 Hrs Tuesday 11 January 2011 BHANGEELAAR! The Campaign against an elected executive mayor in Tower Hamlets
Your [“East London Advertiser” online] item is headlined “Commonwealth gold winner enlisted to help tackle anti-social behaviour”.
Is it for real? Or is it yet another fantasy “new Year” confetti being thrown in the confused propaganda bid to divert attention from the abysmal failure of the “local authority” and its various “partners” to do their job?
What evidence have you been privy to showing ANY substantive correlative link between the primary plugged personality and the claimed result?
The nine world headline can be divided into two parts incompatibly appearing in the same headline.
The first four words “Commonwealth gold winner enlisted” joined untenably by "to"” with an incredible claim ”help tackle anti-social behaviour” has not been demonstrated by any evidence on the ground as known and lived by ordinary people on the dozens of “neighbourhoods” made decidedly un-neighbourly by mushrooming anti-social behaviour across the Borough of Tower Hamlets.
And we have not even begun to look at the role being played by the paid “professional” “employees” that are kept in cash in the name of tackling not only anti-social behaviour but also to tackle the causes giving rise to such behaviour.
Shouldn't those who gave you the plug be asked to show why they have not published the full account of what the paid employees in what used to be the Council’s Education and Social services departments had done over the past decade during which the CURRENT ‘generation’ of anti-social behaviour population in the borough has ‘gone through” “schooling” and allied “help”?

Ten days' break in publishing new editions of this BHANGEELAAR! blog forced by the cruel event of Kay Jordan's absence from East London !
We had a scheduled meeting with Kay Jordan in the afternoon on Friday 24 December 2010.
When we found that she was not around in the area we thought that she might have decided to stay at home and spend the immediate Christmas period trying to get some rest after all!
